With each new season comes ten new mysteries, and one of the biggest of season 3 is; Who is the Gargoyle King?
Riverdale fan, anonomously named Betty Cooper, suggests it's one of these six people, saying "The Gargoyle King is someone we least expect. Someone nobody would think would be the Gargoyle King. Someone who is seemingly innocent and unsuspecting." And this theory basis would definitely correspond with past season mysteries.
So who does this 'Betty Cooper' believe the Gargoyle King to be? She kicks off her six theories with one we definitely wouldn't expect...
Fred Andrews; for the simple fact that he's one of the best people on the show and he's fairly innocent in comparison to half of the parents. He's also not been featured for a couple episodes now and it's raising suspicion in my ('Betty's') eyes. But I would hope he isn't because I love him so much and I doubt he'd hurt his child unless he was counting on archie to escape.
Talk about 'unexpected.' If the Riverdale producers are wanting to throw their fans a hard ball (which they often do) this would be just the way to do it. What do you think? Could Mr. Righteous Andrews be the dread Gargoyle King? Let me know in the comments!
Moving on down the line, our next suspect is Edgar Evernever; Simply because the farm is extremely weird and is very brainwashing and we also haven't seen him yet. And his daughter is strange; having been there when both Ethel and Betty had seizures.
This is one theory I could definitely get behind. It makes too much sense for The Farm and the Gargoyle King to be related, it's not really that much of a stretch to say Edgar could be the King. Then again, usually when things make sense in Riverdale, it's a warning sign that you actually have no idea what's going on. So who knows?
And the third person on our List of Prospects is Pop Tate; (Whaaatt?) Could definitely be the Gargoyle King considering he legitimately is the most innocent person in riverdale. Most of the time, it's a character you'd never think of and it leaves you shook once you realize how wrong you were.
'Betty Cooper' definitely aces that last line, most of the time it's a character you'd never think of. And honestly, how many people would think of Pop Tate? Him ans his Chock 'Lit Shoppe are the rock of Riverdale. He may not be a large character but he's always there. It's definitely a possibility... But would the Riverdale writers really go that far out of expectation?
Next is the late, great, Serpent King himself... Fp Jones; He doesn't seem to want to share his version of the story, really speak about G&G, or want his son involved. This raises a high level of suspicion. But he may be hiding other secrets too.
This one is a bit of a stretch... I mean, Fp? He's already the late Serpent King, why would he need to be a Gargoyle King as well? It's still a possibility (anything is this early in the season) but personally, I'm thinking he's hiding something else. Maybe something even juicier... What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments or via email!
Continuing down the list, 'Betty's' next suspect(s) is Daryl Doyle/Reggie's Dad: Either two could definitely be it, since we haven't really met them yet. Reggie's dad seems pretty volatile and what he did to Reggie was messed up. Over a damn question? Makes no sense. And Doyle may not be as innocent as he pretends to be.
Ooh, now wouldn't this be interesting? 'Betty' makes a good point about Reggie's dad. Why would you get so worked up over somerthing so (seemingly) simple? The answer is easy; you wouldn't. Whether he's the King or not, there is definitely something else going on... But what is it?
And last, but certainly not least, Tom Keller; It could be him as well. There's not much of him this season either. And him and Sierra both were hiding the fact that they played G&G from their children. They could be working together.
When it comes to Riverdale, you can never be sure until that last episode. The producers like to keep us jumping from the lows to the highs and back down and up again, because it keeps us coming back for our next fix.
Any of these six theories could come to life, or none of them at all, only time can tell. And speaking of time, the next Riverdale episode airs tonight, so if you have the chance to watch it, don't miss it! It may conclude some of these theories... Or give even more power to back them up.
And there you have it, the top six suspects for the Gargoyle King. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these in the comments or via email! Which theory do you find most viable? Send me your own theories for a chance to be published here on TheRiverdaleAddict.
