Varchie vs. Veggie, Ship It or Ditch It?

Riverdale’s season three episode 6 (Manhunter,) left every fan shook. But it was especially shocking, and saddening, for the loyal Varchie (Veronica + Archie) shippers, as this episode officially ended their relationship. In one of Riverdale’s most heartbreaking scenes, Archie (KJ Apa) gives up his relationship with Veronica (Camila Mendes) as he flees her father's (Mark Consuelos) wrath, and his hometown, in the hopes of protecting the ones he loves. In the following episodes it’s clear that Archie and Veronica aren’t over each other yet, but there’s no telling what, if anything, awaits them as a couple in the future.

KJ Apa teases about a rekindling, when he tells TVline, “There’s still something there,” But with so many fans moving on so quickly, it’s impossible to know if Varchie can be redeemed, or if their once withstanding relationship is over. Forever.

Which leads us into this articles main point; The Veggie (Veronica + Reggie) Discussion. Is it a ship or a ditch?

Veronica Lodge and Reggie Mantle (Charles Melton) have shown a lot of compatibility in season three. They’ve teamed up a few times this season, showing promise through teamwork. Like when Reggie joined her at the Speakeasy, and they teamed up to get more customers. And then their successful collaboration in The Great Escape (3x05.)

What makes this ship even more possible is the newly discovered romance between the actors of these two characters. Camila and Charles have recently been affirmed as a couple, and there’s no doubt that you can see the chemistry between actor and actress shine through on screen. Fans have picked up on it, resulting in an up-rise of noisy Veggie shippers, almost if not equally as loud as the cries of Varchie shippers, heartbroken from the recent breakup.

The question is, which ship will win? The season 3 episode 9 (No Exit) promo definitely seems to lean towards Veggie; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRRJBqpqO6c.

With eight days left until a new episode (our next fix!) airs on the CW, fans are on the edge of their seats, fed up with waiting, and brimming with theories, hopes, and (as always) questions. Hopefully this new episode gives us some answers, but knowing Riverdale, I’m sure it will only leave us with more questions.

From episode 8 (Outbreak) to episode 9 (No Exit) the Riverdale world will jump forward two whole months! Even though it feels like we’ve been waiting forever, this is a much larger time jump than fans expected. What do you think this new episode will contain? What do you hope to see?
