Top ten herb suggestions, that you need to add to your collection!

My Herbal Grimoire
Herbs are a large part of many Wiccan, Witch and Pagan practices. Herbs are extremely useful and commonly called upon in spells, rituals and lesser magic workings. Each herb has a magical property (that often corresponds with its medicinal properties) and if used correctly they will be able to help, heal and if you're into the darker side of the craft, hex. This being said, knowing your herbs and their uses is extremely helpful as a modern-day witch. So let's get into it, shall we?
How Do You Use Herbs?
As I said previously, they are used in spells and rituals. But they are also used in many other ways. You can use them in baths, showers, teas, ointments, sachets and more! Depending on the herbs uses you can hang it above your bed, under your desk, beneath your pillow, in the soles of your shoes and so on. For example; basil is hung above beds or placed under pillows to induce fertility, or rose petals can be put beneath a pillow to spice up your romance life. Herbs are extremely useful and have a wide variety of uses.
What Herbs Do What?
That is the million dollar question. There are so many herbs out there and eventually I will do a more extensive list, but for now, here are my top ten herbs!
Top Ten Herb Essentials
Rosemary - rosemary is used for clarity, cleansing, and protection. It’s believed to attract the Fae and is often associated with the Greek goddess, Aphrodite.
Sage - sage is a cleansing herb, often used in smudge sticks to clear away negative energies. This herb is also used for protection, wisdom and prosperity. Burn it at funerals to relieve the pain of a lost loved one.
Basil - this herb is used in workings focused on fertility, abundance, prosperity, promotion, love and good fortune.
Lavender - this beautiful flower is used to aid in sleep, brings about good dreams, relieves headaches, lessens anxiety and is used as a purifier. This is a peaceful plant and is great for meditation, relaxing baths and in teas. You can also use it to strengthen your physic abilities and protect from negative energies.
Mugwort - mugwort is an herb commonly associated with divination and dreams. This herb will protect you from physic attacks, attract Fae and since it’s considered a moon herb, it’s great for cleansing, purifying and consecrating. Burn this herb during divination practices to enhance your abilities. Place it under your pillow to induce prophetic dreams.
Chamomile - chamomile is a peaceful herb, much like lavender. It’s used in spells involving prosperity, peace, tranquility, love and good luck. In teas, it will ward off insomnia and when placed in your wallet it will attract money.
Cinnamon - cinnamon is a wonderful herb and has many magical attributes. Use it in spells for protection, prosperity, love, passion, purification, success, healing and communication.
Thyme - use this in magical workings focused on love, healing, happiness, courage, protection, and compassion. It’s a protective and cleansing herb and is associated with Faerie Lore. Supposedly if you wear a sprig of thyme you’ll have a better chance of seeing faeries. Burning thyme will attract good luck, good health and will encourage restful sleep. You never have enough thyme! (see what I did there?)
St. Johns Wort - this herb is used for protection, strength, health, and happiness. It's said when this herb is hung near a window it wards against evil spirits.
Oregano - oregano can be used in spells focused on good luck, tranquility, happiness, protection, health and letting go of things and people. It's also said to strengthen bonds, both romantic and platonic. It promotes psychic dreams and is often used for joy.
There are many, many more herbs, but these are my top ten favorites. If you're looking to add to your spice cabinet, definitely look into these herbs! Most of them are great when baking and cooking as well, which is awesome for kitchen witches like me. Merry part!
